Acne treatment is not only limited to treating pimples and blemishes. It also involves removing impurities such as blackheads and whiteheads. You have to be aware that treatments for blackheads and whiteheads will take some time. However, there are products that can help to speed up the process and at the same time, prevent scarring.
Salicylic acid – effective in eliminating bacteria and excess oils on the skin. It is used in many skin care products and is proven to be a good treatment for blackheads.
Alpha Hydroxyl Acids – can be used to remove dead skin cells and get rid of whiteheads.
Benzoyl Peroxide – contains antibacterial properties that are effective in treating mild pimples but it can be very drying on the skin. Also, it is not as effective in terms of blackhead removal.
Accutane – this should be used as a last resort and only for sever cystic acne. If possible, try to avoid using Accutane as it has many side effects.
Home Remedy – you can also use a face steam to remove whiteheads. Add some essential oils to the steamer. The essential oil can be use for anti bacteria purposes. You can also use lemon juice to help reduce excess oils on the skin while it acts as an astringent.
There are also the popular pore strips that will help remove dirt and blackheads on areas like the nose, forehead and chin. This coupled with the use of salicylic acid have been one of the most effective ways to remove blackheads. However, remember not to overdo with the pore strips. You should use the salicylic acid solution for a while to loosen the clogged pores and use pore strip once or twice a week to remove the dirt.
