If you’re here, then you must be in need of information on rosacea skin treatment. Well, you’ve come to the right place. Below I will be going over a few creams, which may not be cures for rosacea but will help with the redness and other symptoms that comes along with it. The creams we will be going over include Chrysanthellum Indicum, Green Tea and Azelaic Acid cream. By the end of this article, you should have a better idea of what would best fit you.
Chrysanthellum indicum, commonly known as golden chamomile has a great mix of saponosids, flavonoids and phenylpropenoic acids. It has a great effect on vascular wall permeability and can also increase the strength of capillaries. There was a rather large study done including 246 people that showed to greatly treat rosacea symptoms. Some were given the cream which contained 1% of chrysanthellum indicum extract, others were given a placebo. Over the course of 12 weeks the cream was applied twice a day and showed great success compared to the placebo.
Now, lets move onto the Green Tea cream. There was a small study done at the ’05 American Academy of Dermatology’s annual meeting. It found that green tea greatly helped cure rosacea symptoms, at least in the sense of getting rid of the symptoms involved with it. Involved in the study were 60 women between ages 25 and 50 years old. 17 had blood vessels that were visible, 20 had redness and all had pustules and red bumps. Half of them applied placebo, the other half applied the cream which contained 2% polyphenone, twice a day. Four weeks later, the women using the green tea cream showed significant results.
Lastly, we’ll talk about Azelaic Acid Cream, which is derived from rye, barley and wheat. It has shown to have antimicrobial action which slows growth of skin bacteria. It can also be effective in reducing redness, pastules and papules. In a study done by the University of British Columbia they found that a 20% azelaic acid cream was just as effective as a topical metronidazole 0.75% cream. It was also shown to be slightly more effective at reducing redness than the metronidazole in the comparison. The only downside besides stinging may be lightening of darkened areas of the skin, but it didn’t appear to lighten beyond normal color.
Hopefully after reading this article you have learned a bit more about some of the creams that can be used in rosacea skin treatment. By no means do these cure rosacea, but it can greatly improve the symptoms involved and make dealing with it much easier.
