How to Steam Your Face to Stop Acne

Jane; a college-goer, has long been admired for her beautiful since early childhood. But like everyone, we encounter problems from day to day, but now it’s Jane who has to face up to this new problem… “Acne”! She wisely chose not to opt in for medical drugs, because she knew that they were filled with harmful chemicals that would ruin her face even further. So what can she do?

Now this above story could be exactly what happened to you, or at least similar. In such a situation, you’re going to need a clear head, especially in the early stages. An age-old remedy to stop acne can be used. This treatment is “Face Steaming”. That is the most harmless thing you can do to your skin to clear away the pimples. When done correctly, and with the appropriate ingredients, you can surely remove the acne.

The positive effect of face steaming never ceases to amaze me. Your skin will feel refreshed, and look radiant. You can also do this right before an event to make your skin “awakened”.

Now there are some steps of caution that you need to take when it comes to face steaming. Firstly, although this method of opening the pores is completely safe, you should only do this once or twice a week, so that your skin will not become too dehydrated. When the skin becomes dry, your body reacts in defence of the skin, so it then produces even more oil, and that is the opposite of what you want.

Dust and dirt gets removed as well when face steaming, which is also a hygienic benefit. And as you are steaming, sweat (which contains sodium) will kill off the bacteria that causes acne. Yes! So you don’t need to worry about a little sweat, it’s actually good for the skin.

People who have asthma may find themselves struggling with this technique since it requires you to close your eyes and nose, and for the use of herbs that will be mentioned below. Remember to wash your face before and after with warm water, then finished off with cold water, to close the pores when they are clean out.

Steaming can be personalized to suit anyone’s needs. You can of course do face steaming with just water, but to have a better result, you can add special herbs to give your skin that added “glow”.

Turmeric is a great herb to add to the steamer because it rejuvenates the skin. Even the use of Holy Basil (Tulsi) and Azardirachta Indica (Neem) can work effectively on pimples and could even stop them from ever returning again. For oily skin, you should probably add peppermint, thyme, and lavender. And for those who have a more delicate (dry) skin surface, could add the above ingredients to the following: chamomile, fennel seeds, and roses.

Now for those of you who are reading this and are unfamiliar with face steaming, I will tell you an easy way to do it at home. All you need is a kettle, a pot (preferably the size of your face), a large towel, a timer, and of course… water. To begin (your face should be washed by now), set the timer for 10 minutes, and boil some water in the kettle. Once it’s boiled, pour the water into the pot. Then put the towel over your head, and make sure that it is big enough so that it hangs over the sides and front. Then move your face over the steaming pot and start the timer. Try holding your breath for 30 seconds. And when you come up for a breather; take as much time as you need to be able to hold another breath for 30 seconds. After the 10 minutes are over, pad your face with the towel, and go wash your face again. And that’s it!

Face steaming is a great way to deep clean the pores, and I’m sure you won’t regret putting it into your weekly routine.
