So what is the raw diet? It’s just as the name indicates – you will eat only raw foods – yes that’s right 100% of the foods you eat will be raw. For some this might not be feasible for a variety of reasons, so they might opt for 75% to 99% raw. The key is to eat as many raw foods as possible.

There are many benefits to eating raw food including weight loss, lower occurrences of diseases like heart disease and diabetes, happier, a noticeable increase in energy, and a slowing down in the aging process. Your raw diet will include fresh, frozen, or dried fruits, fresh or dried vegetables, sprouts, herbs, spices, nuts, seeds, ancient grains, sea vegetables, and algae.

To slow down or prevent aging there are many nutrients that you need, all of which are powerful antioxidants. Vitamin E is necessary internally and externally. Vitamin C helps with the production of collagen, and Vitamin A is important to the repair of tissue. Selenium helps the skin maintain its tone and elasticity. All are important antioxidants in the reduction of aging on both the exterior and interior of the body. Vitamin B is necessary for the production of healthy cells. However, there are other excellent antioxidants that you may not be as familiar with.

Take Vitamin F (essential fatty acids), which is an oil your body needs and it is easily found in raw foods such as flax oil or sunflower seeds. It plays an important role in ensuring your skin does not become too dry. Then there’s Vitamin D, which is necessary for healthy skin. The sun and shitake mushrooms are the two easiest ways of getting Vitamin D. And let’s not forget about potassium, which promotes younger, healthier skin. It can be found in many fruits and vegetables.

All of these vitamins promote youthfulness and slow down the aging process significantly. More importantly, all of them are available through raw foods, and all of them will keep you not only looking younger but feeling younger too.
