Getting to Know Rosacea and Its Symptoms

The largest organ in every human body is the skin. When you have a disorder or disease of the skin, it is very severe because it affects almost every part of your body. This is why you should be very careful about the kind of care that you assign your skin. So, you can avoid the need to see a dermatologist. Some of the common skin disorders that people seek treatment for include skin rashes, acne, warts and inflammation. However, the skin disorder that takes time before it is even recognized is called Rosacea.

The cause of rosacea disease can be attributed to the deficiency of some crucial amino acids in the human body. This chronic disorder is extremely common among adults of the age from 30 to 60 years, and women are affected most compared to men. This disease has been discovered to be both psychologically and socially traumatizing since in its full blown stage, it results in the burning and itching of the skin. Parts of the body that can be commonly affected include the cheeks and nose and it is a terrifying experience.

The trickiest part of rosacea skin condition happens in its initial stages. This is because the symptoms may not alert you suddenly that you are suffering from it. They are quite similar to sunburn and thus can be easily dismissed. The symptoms are flushing of the face, erythema or red patches in the face like sunburn, burning or itchy eyes and dry eyes among others. It is very important to note that the symptoms do not necessarily always appear in the above combination and you may just get one or two of them. The danger is in the fact that it is possible to have the symptoms for months or years without knowing, thus aggravating the skin disorder.

This disease comes to the fore when you are physically or mentally agitated. Immediate flushing, itchiness and general discomfort sets in. The skin may also harden or thicken. Apart from the deficiency of the vital amino-acid mentioned above, other factors that have been pinned down as possible causes of the disorder are sun exposure, leaky blood vessels beneath the skin and skin reactions to do with immunity.
