Studies have shown that fruits and vegetables can definitely slow the aging process. With all of the vitamins, minerals, enzymes, and amino acids in fruits and vegetables we now know that juicing is excellent choice. One study published in the leading nutrition journal found that people over the age of 70 had less wrinkles just ate more vegetables, olive oil, and legumes, and fewer dairy and sugar products. Here are three other foods you should try to make a part of your regular diet.
We have incorporated juicing the fruits and vegetables listed below in our Jack LaLanne Power Juicer as part of my family’s health regiman.
1. Salmon. It’s one of those miracle foods that seems to be good for just about everything-and your skin is no exception. According to dermatologists, salmon (and red sea plants) contain a skin-friendly antioxidants that help to produce collagen. Pare this with a whole food diet rich in vitamins it can be more powerful than microdermabrasion.
2. Carrots. The beta-carotene found in carrots, long known for keeping eyes healthy, is also beneficial for your skin. And, if you want an extra antioxidant boost, you should cook the carrots. A study published in the showed that cooked, pureed carrots-especially those that included the carrot peels-contained higher levels of antioxidants than raw carrots. Our main ingredient when juicing vegetables is the carrot which is a perfect compliment to a host of other veggies and in the Jack LaLanne Power Juicer blends effortlessly.
3. Soy. Found in tofu and as a substitute for milk in dairy foods, soy has been shown to decrease the signs of aging. One vitamin study demonstrated that women over 45 who took 40 mg of soy a day for 12 weeks showed improvement in fine lines around their eyes and skin elasticity. Those who took a placebo did not see the same improvements.
4. Melons. Most melons have the same nutritional content. Cantaloupes and muskmelons are especially rich in vitamins A, B complex, and C with honeydew melon running a close second. This makes them a good skin and nerve food.We juice the whole fruit, rind all using our Jack LaLanne Power Juicer.
All melons contain a variety of vitamins, minerals, enzymes, and plenty of natural, unconcentrated sugars. They are also cooling and have a tonic effect on digestion. Melon juices
are one of our family’s summertime favorites.
5. Our Jack LaLanne Power Juicer has been fired up plenty of times using the sweet red and green peppers for a very healthy sweet red and green peppers. The difference between sweet green and sweet red peppers is age: the sweet red pepper is simply a ripe sweet green pepper. Fruits and vegetables with shiny skins have been known to be high in potassium and silicon. Both green and red peppers are rich in these nutrients as well as vitamin C ( the fully-ripe red pepper is rich in vitamin A, as well). This nutrient combination helps transfer the qualities of sweet pepper skins to us: that is the tightness and healthy glow. Not simply skin beautifiers, both sweet red and sweet green peppers are wonderfulful flavor enhancers when used in green juice drinks and other vegetable juices. Our Jack LaLanne Power Juicer has been fired up plenty of times using the sweet red and green peppers for a very healthy and delicious juice.
